FishingFishing in MaldivesFishing has been the lifeblood of the Maldivians since time immemorial. The sector in the country as it stands now, has evolved from a traditional subsistence-based single species fishery to a number of commercial fisheries projects and small production units. The skipjack tuna fishery provides a major source of employment in the country especially for the rural community. Our recreational fishing safaris are geared towards providing entertainment to the guests while ensuring sustainability of the local fisheries by supporting the release of the catch. Our fishing safaris include trolling, fly fishing and casting. The catch usually is large and hard to forget - sail fish, dog tooth tuna, wahoo, red snapper, are common catch. While you are on your fishing safari you could always add a little bit of more excitement to your tour by engaging in other recreational activities such as barbeques, excursion to Male', island hopping etc. |
